Holiday

Salisbury is a beautiful city. We stay about a mile outside and walk along the river to the centre of the city. I could spend hours looking at the cathedral - such a fantastic building (despite the scaffolding) and people watching!

It was then onto Glastonbury - always an interesting place to visit. One of our favourite walks is from the campsite up to the Tor and then down into the town for coffee, cake and more people watching (there's definitely a recurring theme here!) We spent ages sitting in the sunshine and ended up having pasties as well!

On our way home we visited Stourhead, a National Trust Garden. We have walked around the estate many times with the dog, but never actually been inside - and what a treat it was! The gardens are beautiful and with the rhododendrons in full bloom, probably the best time to visit and definitely a nice way to finish our holiday.

Dog

Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth - or so you would think!!!! Last night Roxy ate two bars of Green and Black chocolate (any one who has a dog will know that dark chocolate is poisonous for dogs). So an emergency trip to the vets at 10pm, £222 later and one very sorry looking dog! To top it all we had to set the alarm for the middle of the night so we could give her medicine. Has she learnt her lesson - NO. What did I catch her doing this morning - licking the remains of the hot chocolate out of a mug (and yes it was on the table!)

Stash buster

I came home last weekend to discover number one daughter busily cutting up her stash of fabric - she wanted to make a quilt for her boyfriends birthday. Once all the strips were sewn together she raided my stash and found 6 fat quarters in shades of green and blue. And this is the result! I love the fact she can just pick up fabrics and put them together without having a pattern or a plan. She now wants to add a boarder of flying geese. Watch this space!!

Stitch and Burn

I had a great day at my Take Two Textile class yesterday. We layered a piece of wool with glitzy fabric confetti and polyester fabric and covered the piece in vermicelli stitch and then using a soldering iron burnt holes in it! Great fun. I might make it into a small clutch bag - thats if I can work out how to do it!

The very hungry caterpillar

This is the quilt number one daughter made for her God-daughter. I love the hungry caterpillar. The quilt is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully quilted!
