Cross stitch and slow Sunday stitching

The paralympics have started and I've managed to watch some of it, but unfortunately the coverage is not on the BBC but on channel 4 and it really isn't as good!  That said I have watched some of it and particularly enjoyed the wheelchair rugby (boy that's one full on sport!)

I have managed to complete part 5 of the Faby Reilly stitch a long and added a second dragonfly to the next panel.  I'm now looking forward to Monday week when part six is published.

On Friday I got my Cotton and Twine subscription box (you can guess what I will be working on today for slow Sunday stitching).  This months project will be attached to a zipped pouch when it's finished.  There was also a very nice pair of small sharp scissors.....along with chocolate and tea of course!

Christmas decorations!

I actually have one finish to show you this weekend and it's Ambers 1st day of Christmas decoration from mmmcrafts (I know I'm really ahead of the game!!)

I was trying to be artistic and photograph them hanging from a shrub in the garden but it was really windy and I couldn't get a picture of the front of the partridge and the front of the pear at the same time!  So that backfired!  Still you get the idea.
I also completed part 4 of the Faby Reilly stitch a long.  The photo really doesn't do it justice.  The threads and beads just sing!
This panel is now complete (3 more to go) and Part 5 is out on Monday.
And in between these projects I cut out the fabric to make 7 more International Sisters to go with the one I made last week.......just need some time in my sewing room! The link for the pattern can be found here.
Im not sure I will get much time for any sewing today as its my lovely Husbands birthday and we are off for Sunday lunch soon.  But I will hopefully be able to link up with Kathy's blog for slow Sunday stitching - not me but I always like looking at what everyone else has been up too!
Have a nice day.

Red work Heart and little sisters

How quickly the days have past this week!  My lovely son and his girlfriend came to stay for a few days and we had a BBQ in the garden to celebrate my lovely daughters birthday.  It's always nice to get the whole family together.  I've carried on doing some work on part four of the Faby Reilly stitch a long which should be completed soon and I've also worked on the bee red work heart.

I was also very inspired by Little Penguin Quilts Little Sisters mini quilt and followed the link to Preeti's blog to get the pattern for her International Sister Block.  I had to have a go at making one....
The 10.5" block is just a bit too bit so had another go and made the smaller version (Perfect!)
I can definitely see more of these in my life so with that in mind I sorted through some of my batiks - just need more hours in the day and I will be away!
Tomorrow I will link up with Kathys for some slow Sunday stitching - hop on over and take a look!

Slow Sunday stitching

I've really enjoyed the 2020 Olympics, especially watching those odd sports that I wouldn't normally think of watching (climbing wall - yes it really is a sport, the weight lifting, shooting, BMX bike riding and skateboarding among the many more I've dipped into) but now it's over I really should get on with some housework, very neglected over the past 16 days!

I have been concentrating on finishing the bird and Easter egg cross stitch this week and apart from adding some cord around the edge I'm happy to say I have.

And here it is with the first one I made back in April.
I have also completed part three of Faby Reilly's stitch a long - just in time for the release of part four tomorrow.
The photo doesn't do the sparkly mayflies justice unfortunately!
I am linking up with Kathy for some slow Sunday stitching and will do some work on my red work heart while watching the closing ceremony for this years Olympics.

Olympics and French knots!

Boy oh boy have I spent a lot of time watching TV this past week!  But I just love the Olympics and although its always great to see the UK win medals the competition has been fantastic overall. I have of course got lots done on my various projects.  Here is a quick run down....

The Cotton and Twine subscription box project got attached to the bag.
My new box arrived yesterday so I will add a photo at the end.
I started on the second bird and egg cross stitch from Satsuma Street (pattern via Etsy).  I needed to concentrate on this one so I could only listen to the Olympics - but it was the Dressage and that isn't really my cup of tea so that was OK!
and I did a little bit of the red work heart!
But I've spent most of my time filling in the ground cover french knots on the embroidered garden.
I love the little black bird.  There will be another one on the bird table and one on the roof (possible).  So I might continue with this for my slow Sunday stitching (hop on over and see what everyone has been stitching this week) or I might do part three of Faby Reilly's stitch a long - although this one takes quite a bit of concentration too!
In the meantime here is the latest Cotton and Twine subscription box from the Historical Sampler Company.
Have a great day!
