Slow Sunday Stitching

Some progress on the red work candle mat - but still a long way to go!

I'm linking up with Kathy's Blog for Slow Sunday Stitching, although I'm not sure how much stitching I'm going to get done today (I can't complain I've just come home from two weeks in Europe in the Motor Home and managed quite a bit!!)

Below is this weeks progress on '1 year of stitches'  I've been concentrating on the pink this week.

1 year of stitches and red work!

I'm really out of sync with my 1 year of stitches!  I had no internet access last Sunday so here is the photo showing last weeks yellow efforts!  This week I've been working on the pink area. I will take a picture on Sunday (I will be home by then and have full internet - I am rather ashamed to say I do miss it when I can't get connected but that said it is also rather nice not to have any pressure to check emails - I know I've contradicted myself!!!)

I have made only a little progress on my red work candle mat, but I have got three months to finish it right?

New project!

I really couldn't help myself!  I watched Mandy Shaw on Sewing Quarter last weekend and wanted to start some Christmas red work. I've had this pattern on hold since I bought it earlier in the year, but September is just about right to start Christmas projects isn't it?  Anyway it is quite a big project but I'm loving it already and hopefully it will be finished by Christmas (2017 that is ha ha!)

1 year of stitches

I couldn't post a photo last Sunday of progress on '1 year of stitches' because the computer was completely done in!  It's now back from the shop and hopefully will continue to behave.

I worked last week on the blues and greens and this week I've been adding to the oranges (lots of French knots in the top left hand corner)

Last Class!!

'Warm September brings the fruit, sportsmen then begin to shoot' - Sara Coleridge

It was our last ever class on Monday and I'm very sad!  I hadn't realised I've been attending Kate's classes since October 2012 (5 years!) and I've learnt lots and made some great pieces of embroidery and textile art.  I'm pleased to say as a group we are going to continue to meet once a month.

Our last class based around the Sara Coleridge poem was all about printing from apples and pears - such fun!

I've added wadding and outlined the fruit with single thread, highlighted the veins of the leaves, added pips and the little bit at the bottom.  The class example was a bag, but not sure what I will do with mine - so watch this space.
Because it was the last class I wanted to finish some of my work, so I've been very focused throughout August.  Here is my Sheep from a couple of months ago mounted in an embroidery hoop next to the cake that someone from the group made for Kate.
Not only did the cake look amazing, it tasted amazing too!!
