Meadow blanket

I was given some vouchers for the Wool Warehouse for my birthday and had lots of fun choosing a yarn pack for my next crochet project.  This isn't my usual colour palette but the pack was chosen because it had eight new colours never used in any of my previous blankets
My tension sample was made and much to my surprise turned out exactly right! My plan is to make a small lap blanket.  The pattern is from Attic 24 and the instructions are always really easy to follow - fortunately because I haven't done any crochet for a year!
On Monday Englands stay at home rule was lifted and we can now meet up in a group of six outdoors - Yay.  To celebrate we booked a slot yesterday at our nearest National Trust Garden (which has been open throughout lock down but because its about 45 mins drive away we didn't think it was classed as local).  We have also had a couple of beautiful sunny days - yesterday was the hottest March day since 1969!  We packed some sandwiches and had a lovely walk around the gardens (we all had to walk in the same direction as the paths are quite narrow in places, especially by the river) but it was lovely to go somewhere different!
The smell from these hyacinths was gorgeous!

Slow Sunday Stitching

The clocks sprang forward today for British summertime, I have to say it doesn't feel like summertime yet it is blooming chilly!  I managed another finish during the week.  My bird and egg cross stitch from Satsuma Street is done (when I say done all the stitching is done but I do need to assemble it onto an egg shaped piece of card)  Hopefully I will be able to get it completed before Easter!

It is surprising how long this little 4 inch piece has taken me.  There are 16 different colours involved but I rather like it and it was worth the effort.  Maybe when I stitch the second one I will make a note of the time taken.
I had a Ta Dah moment yesterday over at so scrappy, but realised I hadn't sewn a label on the back so that will be my first job today for slow Sunday stitching.
Enjoy your stitching today what ever it may be!

RSC

I finally quilted and put the binding on one of my RSC projects!  Yay!!!! This was started in 2013 and finished this week (its 32 inches square and only taken me 7 years) and it took the birth of my first granddaughter in January to get going again - I thought it would make a nice little play mat for her.  I didn't know how to quilt it so ended up just stitching in the ditch and doing it on the machine so Amber doesn't get her little fingers caught in any stitches.

I am linking up to soscrappy for this Ta Dah moment.  Hop on over and you can see what other projects are being added to today!

Easter bunny

Not too much has happened in the sewing room since I last posted.  I have made some progress on the little bird and egg cross stitch.  But it is something I dip into when I have the odd thirty minutes to spare.  Still enjoying it though!

The fabric looks very pink in the photo but it is called natural, so it's just a trick of the light!

Easter bunny finally got her dress.  Not the fabric I had intended (that has been on order since the middle of February and the shop is waiting for more Tilda fabric to arrive from abroad, but what I find really annoying is they have taken my money and are still advertising the fabric as in stock!  I can't decide whether to ask for my money back or bide my time!)  So bunny has a different Tilda fabric but still very pretty!

I am linking up to Kathy's blog for some slow Sunday stitching.  Hop on over and take a look!

Sarah's Sewing Room

I thought I would show a picture of one of my birthday presents (from Faye and family)

For the past six years I have had Faye's clock in my sewing room (she was abroad for that time) and then when she came home and moved into her own house she obviously wanted her clock back (outrageous I know) which left me glancing at an empty space.....that is until now!  Nice isn't it!

Some work has been done on my bird and egg cross stitch - not sure its recognisable as a bird yet?  Love the colours though.

Happy Mothering Sunday

I want to wish all Mums out there a very Happy Mothering Sunday!  In the UK we are still in a National Lock down so no one can visit but things are definitely looking up and hopefully before long we can all visit each other again.

On that note I joined the 23,053,716 people in the UK who have had their first dose of the covid 19 vaccine.  I had my jab on Thursday (so did 243,887 other people on that day) - I'm now a statistic and happy to be one!

I did get my bead work pen completed - only taken several years to get my head around the instructions.

As I completed a long overdue project I gave myself permission to start a new one!  That happened to coincide with an order I put in for some fabric and thread arriving (I know how seamless was that LOL)
These four little bird and egg cross stitch patterns are just adorable and perfect for Easter.  The pattern is from Satsuma Street on Etsy.  Not much progress yet but I only started yesterday.  Hopefully I will be able to get lots more stitches added today for slow Sunday stitching

Bead work

What a difference a day makes!!  Yesterday was glorious sunshine and I spent several hours gardening to today which is wet, windy and cold!!

In my quest to try to complete some projects before starting anything new (I know I've said it before!!) I took out a project that has been waiting in the wings for years.  My friend Sue has owned a bead shop for several years and when she first opened I went along and bought some beads to cover a pen - showing support.  I have struggled on and off trying to work out how to do peyote stitch, I've watched YouTube, I've tried to get books out of the library and I've read lots on the subject but for some unknown reason I just didn't get it!  UNTIL.....today!

Doesn't look much does it?  But this is several hours of beading.  I think now I've sussed out what to do it should grow quickly and shouldn't take me too long (after all its only going round the barrel of a pen).  The tricky bit will come when I have to add another row to the right or left edge.  For those in the beading know my friend said to do even weave peyote stitch which was easier than odd peyote stitch.  I know I don't understand either!!

Slow Sunday stitching

How does the week fly past so quickly?  Here we are again at Sunday and I am ready for some slow Sunday stitching!  This week I have completed Spring, I just need to mount it on some flowery fabric and hang it up on the little house that DH made for me.

Easter Bunny has been assembled - nightmare job as so fiddly!  She just needs a little frock to cover her up (and cover my not too clever stitches!).  It is hard to see in the picture what colour she is - baby pink with white spots!
Yesterday was also my birthday and to think last year I was so lucky to get my birthday in before our first lock down happened.  But I had such a lovely day and was really spoilt and got lots of lovely cuddles with my granddaughter (so lucky to be in a bubble with her!).
My lovely husband also made me a fabulous chocolate cake (my favourite!) and I got flowers - it seems such a long time since I've had a beautiful  bouquet of flowers and my brother sent tulips too....how lucky am I!
This morning I finished an excellent book, The Glass House by Eve Chase that was recommended on someones blog (I can't remember whose unfortunately) but it was so good that if you get a chance to borrow it from the library do!
I am linking up with Kathy so hop on over and take a look at what everyone has been working on this week.

Spring

Its difficult to see in this photo but this is going to be an Easter bunny for my granddaughter (typing that really gives me a thrill). The pattern comes from the Tilda World website where there are lots of free patterns.  This afternoon I can hopefully get the body and limbs stuffed.  It won't be a toy she can play with but it will look nice on her shelf in the nursery.
I've also made some more face masks.  The planets is for my husband, the Laurel Birch cats for Faye and the dog fabric one is for me!

Yesterday I received a letter from the NHS inviting me to go for my corona virus vaccination!  This too gives me a thrill!  So I went on line and I've booked my first jab for next week and my second one is booked in for the end of May! Very happy!
