SHR 8

Round 8 of the Stay at home Robin was difficult to add. The challenge was to add some applique or embroidery and my background is so busy I wasn't sure what to do. Anyway I ended up cutting a flower from one of the fabrics and bondawebbing it in place. Not sure if its right or not - I think I would have preferred a brighter colour - I don't really do subtle!!

Percy Peacock

I have been busy working on my cross stitch (which is nearly finished!) so thought I would post some photographs of number one daughters first attempt at bondaweb and applique. She got the idea from a birthday card and enlarged and adapted it. It is made from silks and embellished with beads and sequins. She made a good job of it!

'S' X stitch

I've done a bit more of my 'S' cross stitch. It's slow work and can only be done in day light because it's so small. But here is a progress report!

X stitch

I love looking at other peoples blogs, they can be incredibly inspiring and really motivate me to start another project or finish one that has been on the go for ages!! Hence the next picture of an embroidery I started a long time ago (and I'm talking years). I have picked it up again and am really enjoying myself. It is still in its infancy and will eventually be my initial 'S'. I have finished an 'L' for my DH and will take a picture and show that soon. So thank you Angelcat and Kate!!!

More Kimono's

Number one daughter has been busy making more Kimono's. I think these might be gifts for her friends. I'm sure they will love them!

alqs5

My little elephant that I made for Another Little Quilt Swap 5 will soon be going to Lisa in the USA! It has been great fun deciding what to make for the swap and then choosing my top 10 from all the wonderful quilts that people had put forward (really difficult to decide on 10). I don't know which one I will be receiving yet and I don't want to know - it will be a fantastic surprise when it arrives in the post. It was also very exciting the know that lots of people had my elephant on their wish list!

Not much quilting done over the last couple of days - the weather was gorgeous so I felt I had to do some gardening - tomorrow however the rain is coming - AGAIN.

Kimono

I received these wonderful Japanese fabrics several years ago as a birthday present, and never really knew what to do with them. Until that is, number one daughter saw the perfect pattern for them at this years Farnham quilt show! So yesterday we each made a kimono and then realised that three in a row would look fabulous (so I made another one - as you do). And I'm really pleased with them. I can see everyone getting a little kimono for there birthday presents this year)

Bits and Bobs

Ive had two lovely days of patchwork and its been wonderful. My DH is in London at an astronomy exhibition for two days. All day yesterday I was piecing and sewing together the blocks and in the evening number one daughter and I had a Chinese take away (to celebrate the Chinese New Year) followed with a seriously fattening dessert, washed down with a bottle of wine and Mama Mia on DVD (that was accompanied by a box of maltesers). And today I have put the boarder on! The photo doesn't do it justice, but I'm really pleased with it. All I need to decide is how to quilt it. I think because it is such a busy quilt, that quilting in the ditch may be enough. Watch this space!
