Errol the little bird!
Every week where I'm staying in Portugal, they run a craft class and this weeks project was a little bird (I've named him Errol .... no idea why). He's very cute and it was nice to sit with like minded people and do some hand sewing. I've added a few drizzle stitches for tail feathers, just to make him a bit more individual!
Work on '1 year of stitches' continues and is looking good. I've sewn a little boat for my dad (he liked boats) and some hearts to celebrate St. Valentines day. I will try to link up with Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching (Internet permitting) where you can see what other people are sewing today!

1 year of stitches
There is something very soothing about picking up some embroidery and just putting in a few stitches every day. And looking back too last weeks entry I realise how much it has grown over the last seven days. I am enjoying the process immensely!

Slow Saturday Stitching
We have had a day of torrential rain so I've spent most of it sewing which has been a delight! I love the gentle colours in this project - so off my usual colour schemes which are normally bright in your face colours.
I've also been working on my 1 year of stitches and its so nice to be working on a different colour. If I can I will link up with Kathy's blog tomorrow for Slow Sunday Stitching. but the internet is a bit hit and miss at the moment!

Cross Stitch
I've made some good progress on the little owl sampler. I'm not too sure which colour I should do the owls wings in so I've done one of each and will decide when I've added some more owls which colour to use! But so far so good.

Stitching and Daughters!
At the end of January (where did January go by the way?) I collected all my green threads together in a pile and sorted out the colours I wanted to work in during February. Going through my box of colours I realise I have lots of blues and greens but I'm really going to struggle when I get to the yellows and oranges - Oh well an excuse to buy more I suppose - sigh :)!
I've said it before and I'm sure I will say it again......I'm loving this '1 year of stitches' project! My DD Faye is also participating. And we are both doing similar projects - well we both took a shape that we liked and are leaving it negative. But that's as far as the similarities go. I will link up with Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching where you can see what other people are stitching. Faye's turtle also features there today!
As Kathy says on her blog post she likes to be well prepared and took several small projects to do at her guild meeting. I agree, and with that in mind and in preparation of going on holiday, (I didn't want to run out of sewing and I am trying to pace my 1 year of stitches project to last me a whole year!) I bought a cross stitch pattern from Jardin Prive, a beautiful French designer whose cross stitch patterns I have admired for a long time. Incidentally, I discovered this web site via Slow Sunday Stitching! There are lots of patterns to chose from and lots of Samplers, which I love, but I wanted a pattern with lots of colour and this little Owl sampler is perfect, especially as Faye loves Owls, so I thought I would make it for her!
