Scissor keeper

It's turned a bit autumnal here in the south of England!  Not that I am complaining, we have at long last had some rain - hurray!  Apparently this August has been so hot and dry that it's the hotest  on record.

I have finished the lovely little scissor keeper.  It was really fiddly stitching it together, but I must admit I'm pleased with how it turned out.  This project has used a number of different stitches including: Satin stitch, Rhodes stitch, Rice stitch, Broad cross stitch and Long legged cross stitch all worked on 18ct canvas.  The twisted loop and the tassel finish it off beautifully!

I will link up with Kathy tomorrow for some slow Sunday stitching

Scissor keeper, cross stitch and willow!

I've nearly done all the stitching on the scissor keeper.  Today for slow Sunday stitching hopefully I will complete it!  Then all I have to do is assemble it.

Apart from working on this I've added more cross stitches to my Christmas project.  I think this one will be put away for a while as I have other things I want to work on!

I've just come home from a very restful week in a cottage in Somerset.  It was lovely, especially as we didn't try to do too much.  We really wanted to recharge our batteries!  But we did visit one or two places.  We visited a willow farm and had a nice walk around the estate.  Because it's the summer school holidays here the estate had made a dinosaur willow trail.  Twelve dinos in totally, but here are a couple!

My DH is next to one of them to give it some scale!  They had a lovely shop selling willow baskets and chairs, which were absolutely beautiful.  I treated my self to a "make your own" flower set.  So this is my next project!!

Take a look at Kathy's blog to see what other people are sewing today.

Scissor Keeper and cross stitch

It is much too hot again to even think about putting stitches into my felt Chirp project, so I have dug out two projects that have been waiting patiently for me to finish.  Both have had more stitches added this week.  The first is a kit I bought back in April at the Brockenhurst Needlework Fiesta by Sue Hawkins and is the Pansy Pinwheel Scissor Keeper.  Several years ago I did a much larger project of the Pansy which I love and she has quite a few different colour ways but I was drawn again to the pansy colours.  Here is my progress so far.

and this is what it will eventually look like!

I've also been working on a Christmas (sorry I did mention the word Christmas in August!) cross stitch that will eventually be gifted to a friend.

Tomorrow I will link up to Kathy's blog for some slow Sunday stitching.  Hop on over and see whats being stitched!

Puffin Pair

How the time has flown!  I've missed blogging for two weeks.  Lots has been happening at home and life really did just get in the way.  It does mean that I don't really have a lot to show but I am happy to say I have finished Joshua's car quilt.  I've put it away until his birthday and forgot to take any photos, but I promise I will!  I picked up a project I started the back ground to a long time ago (we are talking years rather than months!)  I also had all the fabrics picked and the freezer paper cut and ready.  So I've done little bits of this on and off for several weeks.  Today however I put the finished touches on it and mounted the picture on a piece of felt.

Here is is with a few bits of free motion stitching.

And the finished piece!  There is a lot of detail on those puffin but its hard to capture it on a photo.  I have two more patterns from Raggedy Ruff.  Goodness knows when they will get done!

I've also started adding stitches to my next Chirp bird.

I will try to link up with Kathy on Sunday for some slow Sunday stitching.
