Bird House Tapestry

Only little bits of sewing have been happening this week in my house.  On Friday Faye and I ventured out to the shops for some long needed retail therapy (well not long needed but it was great to do something 'normal' for a change) We even had a coffee and cake out!  It was lovely!

DH and I decided to remove our decking from one corner of the garden.  It never got used and some of the wood was rotting (I put my foot through it a little while ago) which means that I have only worked a little on my bird house tapestry.
I am linking up with Kathy's blog for slow Sunday stitching hop on over and take a look at what everyone is stitching today!

10 (1) Pipers Piping!

I'm having real problems with the internet at the moment and it is very hit and miss.  It seems to be working for everyone else in the household but because my iPad and laptop are old its possible that is the reason I can't get connected.  So apologies for not responding to comments left last week and not visiting any blogs!
I am writing my slow Sunday stitching post today - I'm out all day tomorrow.
In the meantime I have today finished my 10th Christmas ornament in the 12 days of Christmas series from mmmcrafts and I look a few photos to show him being assembled!

July stitch a long

Yesterday I saw my son and his girlfriend for the first time since early March and it was amazing.  It was his birthday so we had a socially distanced BBQ and because it was a lovely sunny day worked out perfectly.  After lunch we walked across the common to the cliff top and then home.  It was wonderful!
This week I finished the July part of the Linen and Thread stitch a long.  A nice simple motif that didn't take to long to sew.  And of course because the colours are all established now, each month I find easier to do.  I really like this years project too!
Today is also my 40th wedding anniversary (how and where did all those years go?)  I am now sporting a lovely pair of ruby earrings!  They are a simple stud with a ruby in a gold trim.  I do love receiving jewellery but Im very lazy about changing my earrings and rarely wear dangly ones (I think that's comes from years of wearing only gold studs for work). My lovely husband has great taste and knows me so well!
For the rest of today I am going to carry on sewing my piper from the 12 days of Christmas series - hopefully for next week I will have him finished.  In the mean time pop over to Kathy's for some SLOW SUNDAY STITCHING!

Mottisfont National Trust

I don't have any craft photos to share today (I am working on my piper piping from the 12 days of Christmas series) apart from these taken today at Mottisfont National Trust property in Romsey. Despite the rain it was a pleasant afternoon strolling around the gardens.  They have limited the number of people they are admitting and it has to be booked on line and there is a one way system also, so it felt very pleasant and safe!
Mottisfont is known for its walled garden of old English roses but most of them are now over (no chance of getting a slot to visit when the roses were at there best) but I was very happy to see that the lavender borders (and I am slightly obsessed with lavender at the moment) looked lovely.  The last two pictures are of lola having a quick dip in the River Test and looking adorable when we dropped her back in the motorhome while we carried on our walk in the areas where dogs aren't allowed!

Bee cross stitch and slow Sunday stitching

How did Sunday happen again so quickly?  The days are just racing by!  That said we have had the weekend to ourselves while Faye and her husband visited his family on the other side of London (as of yesterday we are aloud to expand our family bubble).  We didn't have a car but actually that was rather nice, it meant we couldn't go far for our dog walk - just locally around the common and over the cliff top...I'm not complaining at all! And we have been able to just amble around doing our own thing.  I have been sewing (of course) and working on my little bumble bee cross stitch.

I love the fabric I've bought to go with the bee.  This morning I turned the bee into a little pillow.  I do have the stuffing for the pillow but I think it would be nice if it had lavender in it also.  I just have to source some lavender now!  I am linking up with  Kathy for some slow Sunday stitching.  Hop on over and take a look at what other people are working on today!
P.S.  It is very remiss of me not to mention that today the National Health Service celebrates 72 years of being in existence (especially as I was part of the NHS for 30 years!)

Bee Happy!

Poor Lola got stung on Monday by a bee!  It was on the soft bit of her underbelly that has little hair and boy did she feel miserable!  It must of hurt like anything because she sat under a bush in the garden for ages and refused to come out.  We started to worry about her thinking maybe it wasn't a bee but a snake bite so took her to the vets just to make sure.  Anyway she is fine and was on antihistamines for a couple of days and is now back to her bouncy happy self!
Carrying on with the bee theme I have completed the Bee Happy cross stitch from the Cotton and Twine subscription box - just need to frame it (the frame comes in the box too)
And I've started work on this little chap too!
