Spring clean

I thought I would have a bit of an early spring clean in my work room and amalgamate all my scraps into one place - and this is what I've ended up with! I am a bit of a hoarder (I won't deny it) but really did I have to save every tiny piece of fabric (and I do mean tiny). But what was really nice was most of those scraps have a memory or a story attached (I've been collecting fabric for a number of years). Anyway I've been brutal and binned the minuscule pieces - whats the bet I read somewhere of a great way to use up those itsy bitsy pieces now they have gone!! And in between spring cleaning I've done some more on my tapestry!!

Charity Quilt

My friend from work and I have decided to make a charity quilt, so I have been playing with some ideas for a pattern! It has to be something that is very forgiving if two people are working on the same project..... This wonky nine patch fits the bill, especially if we mount it in a frame and then make it even wonkier!!! Actually my playing patch hasn't got a large enough black boarder - it will look far better with a 2" boarder and then tilted even more and trimmed.

Or my daughter made these - made on a foundation square (I think I might get bored doing this one). Anyway I will talk to my friend and see what she fancies doing!

Rainbow scrap challenge

I thought I would participate in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this year (after watching from afar for some months)! I was prompted more because I picked up this rather nice pattern at The Maltings yesterday. The colour for January is obviously RED and I can't wait now for next months colour!

The Maltings

January means The Maltings fabric sale! Despite living on the Dorset Hampshire boarders now, I still enjoy going and it was fun to meet up with Faye and her friend Liz (who has recently taken up quilting and if today is anything to go by, is a fabricaholic already). There were lots of fabric stands, but possible not so many selling bargain £1.00 fat quarters this time - but still worth going. I concentrated on buying bigger pieces for backing and 1 - 2 metre pieces for complementing my stash. I've several projects in mind, including finishing my jelly roll quilt, my charity quilt project (although I keep changing my mind as to the pattern I want to do) and possible another advent calendar. There seemed to be more quilts on display this time - always good to get the creative juices going, and their were some beauties as well. So all in all a really good day!

Isabella's Garden

I realised I haven't shown a photo of Isabella's Garden quilt with the boarder. Im really pleased with it.

Tapestry

As you can see I've done lots on my tapestry since I last showed a photograph. It's still a bit of an obsession and as I only do it when I'm watching TV - I'm just watching too much at the moment!! But I love it and I'm not at all bored with doing tent stitch all the time. I have also added the boarder on Isabella's Garden. I will post a picture soon (it's looking good).

Bunting

My friends daughter, Hannah, is about to have her 21st birthday. She is severely physically and mentally handicapped and I thought the bunting might appeal to her. I've bondawebbed her name on one side but her Mum can hang it up the other way if she decides it will stimulate her more!
