Brown tote bag

Again it has been a glorious weekend, so I've spent some time in the garden. I did however manage to sew my squares together for my brown tote bag.
The picture above is of the pocket. I'm not quite sure how this bag is going to look when its finished. I hate reading a pattern through to the end, I would far rather wait and see what evolves! Anyway the pocket was made and quilted at the same time - never tried this technique before (but I liked it)

Tote bag

It was such a nice day today I went out for a bike ride with DH along the coast but I did get some sewing done - OK not a lot admittedly. I've sewn some fancy stitches around each small square. It was nice to just go through my sewing machine stitches. Not all of them work particularly well but it was still fun to use them!! Hopefully next week I will have more to show.

X stitch - bookmark

I haven't managed to do much crafting this weekend as we were entertaining, but did finish this bookmark this week!

Cafetiere cover

I was given another Tilda book for my birthday recently (I'm mildly obsessed with Tilda at the moment). I don't seem to have much time for sewing right now but I had to make something from it, so went for the cafetiere cover using some favourite fabric - I love red and I love spotty fabric!! It wasn't very challenging and I didn't really need a pattern for it, (I'm sure I could have worked it out for myself) but I am pleased with the end result and I probably wouldn't have thought of adding the scalloped edge. What I really want to make however is another Tilda doll!

alqs 5

I returned home from work yesterday to find a parcel waiting for me from Natalie in Alaska and in it this gorgeous little quilt! Natalie made it for the 'Another Little Quilt Swap 5' which was run by Kate @ http://katesquilting.blogspot.com/ (remember I put in the elephant). The quilt is made with cotton fabric, fusible web, tulle and cotton batting and is beautifully quilted. It's called 'Vieni con me nel campo di girasoli'. I love the colours she has used, I don't think the photograph shows that very well, but they remind me of hot summer days (I need that right now it's blowing a gale outside). Anyway I'm delighted to give it a good home!!

X stitch

I've finally finished my 'S' initial cross stitch. All I need to do now is get it framed.

My DHs initial was completed years ago - at least it has its pair now!
