Slow Sunday stitching

It's been a busy time but I have managed to put a few more stitches (the bottom left hand flowers) into my cross stitch 'Friends'.  I plan to work on this today mainly because I want to get it finished for a girlfriends birthday at the beginning of July! Hop on over to Kathy's blog to see what everyone else is stitching today for slow Sunday stitching

I had to set Gossip in the Garden to one side so I could work on the above cross stitch, but I must admit I am itching to get on with it!

To finish with I wanted to show you some post box yarn bombing (this post box is at the top of our road and has a different theme every month). In honour of our Queens Platinum Jubilee celebration next weekend!

Queen Elizabeth II complete with handbag and earrings, a soldier, and three corgis! This must have taken a huge amount of time to make, but isn't it wonderful!!

Ukraine Tree Peep

I've struggled this week with the current block for Gossip in the garden.  It's those fiddly flowers with tight curves (although the circular flowers were quite easy)!

So I'm going to put it to one side and come back to it.  I've picked another block that should be much easier (five teacups and saucers and two mugs).  That's all prepped and ready to go!

I can't remember if I posted a photo of the Tree Peeps that Faye bought me for my birthday (or was it Mothers Day?) but when the lady who paints them decided to make some to support Ukraine, Faye put her name forward to receive one and then gave it to me!!  The artist raised £3600 for them, which is an amazing amount.

If you see pictures of the Ukrainians in there National dress this Tree Peep is a really good likeness!

Gossip in the Garden

A busy week with my brother and his wife visiting us from Switzerland (its been several years since I saw them) followed my son and his girlfriend.  But it has been SO good, I just wish it had been for longer!

They know I love fabric and sewing and bought me this lovely piece of fabric!

When my son was born 35 years ago they sent him a shirt made from this fabric, so I'm thinking maybe a little dress for Amber?  They also bought over chocolate - a must have from Switzerland!!

Some sewing took place on the next panel in the Gossip in the Garden project.

And I've prepped the next block

Only a short post this week because I'm playing catch up!

EPP (Gossip in the Garden)

I know I've said it already but I am loving this Gossip in the Garden project!!!  Part of my plan was to make a hexie and a Dresden plate thingy for every different fabric I use in the project.  I need 75 hexies, 64 Dresden pieces and 8 chubby thingys!  That plan quickly fell by the wayside but last Sunday I decided to try and catch up a bit.

I love making hexies but I've decided the Dresden pieces are much trickier.  But once I had read the instructions it became easier (note to self read instructions first!!)

Here are my efforts for the week. I love them.  I also had time to prep the next part.

So this is what I will be working on today for slow Sunday stitching.  Hop on over and see what other people are sewing today.
