Happy Easter Sunday

I've managed to get some more work done on Joshua's quilt and yesterday I spent what seemed like hours, positioning all the little cars and trucks onto the background.  I am rather daunted by the prospect of having to stitch every single component individually, trying as much as I can to match the thread colour with the material!  Still his birthday isn't until November so I do have plenty of time!  In the mean time I am putting a row of coloured circles cut from the remnants around the entire quilt, so today for slow Sunday stitching that will be my task!

I mentioned in a previous post that I had bought some fabric to make myself a pair of summer trousers.  I'm a novice dressmaker and the prospect of pattern matching made me purchase some Swedish Tracing Paper.  It made tracing the pattern pieces easy along with marking the pattern, and what is very clever is the tracing paper can be sewn and used as a toile.  Of course I just had to top my basket up, so I didn't have to pay postage and packaging and a few pieces of felt (for Chirp) hopped into my basket, along with a little felt kit to add to my nieces birthday present!

Thats all for today folks.  Have a lovely Easter Sunday.

Rooster and Chicken and the zoo

The glorious weather is continuing here in the UK!  Despite there being a chilly wind occasionally, people are still out in there t shirts and shorts.  I haven't quite resorted to that but I am enjoying the sunshine.  I've been finishing off the little Hen from Satsuma Street.  I have one more to make and I had hoped to get her done before Easter but I think I need a bit of a break.

and next to the Rooster

They were quite fiddly to make up, but I took my time, and they lined up perfectly!

Here are there bottoms!

I must admit I didn't love stitching them but I do love them now they are complete.  Lets wait and see if the third one ever gets made!!

I mislaid the fourth bird from my Chirp project.  He was prepared and tacked into position and lost.  So yesterday I decided to make another one up and can you believe what I found today in my thread box?  Yes you've guessed it the original bird!!!! I absolutely knew that would happen!  I hadn't tacked the 2nd bird yet so I am sure I can use the felt on another bird (I hate to waste any felt...that goes for fabric too)
So for slow Sunday stitching I will make a start on bird number 4.

Yesterday DH and I went to the zoo.  We thought we would visit before the schools broke up for the Easter holidays, so it was reasonable quiet.  We particularly wanted to see the two new arrivals.  A very handsome male tiger who was enjoying a nap in the sunshine/

and a beautiful snow leopard!

That's all for now.  Happy stitching!
