Birthday Cards Galore!
Fast approaching is July (yikes that's half the year gone already!!!) and in July I have a lot of birthdays. With that in mind I sat down over the weekend and made nine cards. I'm not a great card maker, I leave that to my daughter, but I took inspiration from the cards on her BLOG, and I must admit I did enjoy myself!

Weekly round up!
It feels as if it has been a rather slow week sewing wise! So I thought I would just post a few photos of where I am now with various projects.
I am still enjoying '1 year of stitches' although I must admit I want to start filling in some of the gaps. I am however sticking to my plan.....so pink it still is!
A lot of progress on this cross stitch since I last posted a photo. I really am almost there!!!! (Although I must put a face on that poor hedgehog on the right)
And last but not least a few more 60 degree stars added to my memory quilt!
I am linking up with Kathy's BLOG for Slow Sunday Stitching.

'1 year of stitches'
I've been concentrating on my '1 year of stitches' this last week and made some decisions about it! I've decided to extend the top part of the space to be embroidered to allow more blue and green (I've got lots of threads in those colours) and take a centimetre or so from the bottom where the pink, red and orange will be (again partly because I don't have the variety of shades in those colours). So this week after I'd done quite a bit of pink I've added some blue and green (just to remind me that I need to fill those top bits in!!)
Today is Fathers Day in the UK so I asked my DH what he would like for lunch/dinner today as a treat. Roast Chicken was his answer, so we have just tucked in to a delicious roast with all the trimmings, washed down with a bottle of wine...lovely! Apart from that I am sitting in the garden in the shade of some trees and doing a few more 60 degree diamonds. It's much to hot to attempt anything more than that and this morning while out walking the dog I fell over, I really hit the ground with a bang and consequently my shoulder and wrist are giving me some discomfort (I guess I was lucky I didn't break anything!) So I am feeling a little sorry for myself! I am linking up with Kathy's BLOG for slow Sunday stitching where you can see what other people are sewing today.

Owl Cross Stitch
I realised I hadn't shown any photos of progress on my owl cross stitch and work is going well! I must admit I feel that the end is in sight and really want to get it done and move on to my next project. So once the dog is walked (and it isn't a particularly nice day, so I will give gardening a rest today) I will work on this for my Slow Sunday Stitching and maybe watch a film too! You can see what other people are hand stitching at the moment over at Kathy's BLOG. Always worth a visit, especially for some inspiration.
And for '1 year of stitches' June's colour is pink and I have quite a few pinks to play around with, which makes the challenge much easier.
Hope you have a wonderful, restful Sunday!

Canvas Work Flower Border
June brings tulips, lilies, roses; Fills the children's hands with posies - Sara Coleridge
Today's embroidery class had to include all of the above flowers from Sara Coleridge's poem. But of course I couldn't find a picture that had tulips, lilies and roses in it! They don't flower at the same time of year (I guess its called poetic licence?) So my flower border is being made up as I go along!
But as ever it was a great class, I just need some more hours in the day to do some more - might have to leave this one on the back burner until next month!
I wasn't able to post my usual picture of progress on '1 year of stitches' yesterday but hopefully next Sunday I will be back on track.
